New Services For Children at Aspire
Social skills groups and assistive technology is now available at Aspire Children's Services
Social skills groups
Aspire launches Creating Connections: Families, Friends and Beyond, designed for children who have social challenges, sensory processing, autism or related disorders. Aspire creates a unique opportunity for parents and their children to participate together in fun group activities to improve social interactions, conversational skills and the development of friendships. Parents learn, too. Aspire teaches parents ways to development their child’s social skills in home and community settings. Groups run for 10 weeks and are held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The cost for a 10-week series is $300.
Assistive technology
Evaluations and services are now available for children who can benefit from augmentative communication systems such as electronic devices, picture communication systems, or simple voice output devices. Additional assistive technology services provided in the context of therapy can range from handwriting materials, eating utensils, seating equipment, walkers, standers, and adapted toys. These services help children increase their functional skills and achieve more independence.
