Aspire CoffeeWorks Offers Craft-Roasted Coffees While Expanding Horizons for People With Disabilities
CHICAGO, IL — Aspire introduces Aspire CoffeeWorks, a company offering artisan-roasted whole bean and freshly ground coffees and gift baskets perfect for the holidays. Aspire CoffeeWorks creates award winning coffee and new job possibilities for people with developmental disabilities.
This new venture allows Aspire, a not-for-profit leader serving children and adults with developmental disabilities, to rely less on state funding while offering vocational training and work experience to people served by the organization.
“We needed to take control of our future,” says Jim Kales, President and CEO of Aspire. “This venture increases job opportunities for people with disabilities and expands our
financial foundation.”
Adults with developmental disabilities will serve as Aspire CoffeeWorks production staff, responsible for order fulfillment, bag labeling, coffee grinding, gift basket assembly and general cleaning and maintenance. 100% of Aspire CoffeeWorks' net proceeds benefit Aspire's life-changing programs for people with disabilities.
“Aspire CoffeeWorks is launching to address a real challenge—currently more than three out of four people with developmental disabilities such as Down syndrome, autism and cerebral palsy are unemployed,” says Kales “Each time someone opens a bag of Aspire CoffeeWorks coffee, they contribute to the solution, helping open new horizons for people with disabilities.”
