Aspire Belle Center Programs

bellepicBeginning July 2012, the programs of the Belle Center are being continued and expanded under the Aspire name. Working together, we will grow the unique Belle model of inclusion-based services in Chicago and suburbs.

The Belle Center was founded to promote the rights and expectations of all children to be fully included in the community. They provide a critical bridge between children with disabilities and preschools, elementary schools and other community programs. Through a progressive, inclusive approach, Belle Center-designed programs support children with disabilities and their families.

The collaborative effort between the Belle Center staff and our son’s teacher has opened so many doors for him, both educationally and socially.

–Ines Grzeslo, Parent

Aspire continues Belle’s unique model through services such as:

  • Inclusion Education Initiative gives teachers and community providers the tools and strategies they need to successfully embrace children with disabilities. Our inclusive education support takes place where children participate, such as classrooms, daycare centers and other community settings. We also provide workshops on topics related to kids with disabilities and strategies for inclusion, helping community providers open their doors to all children.
  • Therapy and Education Services provide individual education, speech and occupational therapy services to support kids with disabilities at the Belle Center or in their natural environments, such as the family home, school, day camp or other community sites.
  • Family Support and Education activities are opportunities for parents and other family members to learn about the negotiating support services through the public school system, navigating the Individual Education Plan process, and accessing resources for recreational and extra-curricular activities.
  • Sibling Support provides brothers and sisters of children with disabilities support within a relaxed, non-clinical setting. Through crafts, games, stories and discussion, these workshops focus on peer support and education within a recreational context.
